Cromford Mill begins spinning

node

Arkwright's water-powered mill in the Derwent valley started work, drawing power from the Bonsall Brook and from a lead-mine drainage sough that ran warm and rarely froze. Around it he built housing, a market and a chapel to hold a workforce beside the machinery, and the resulting settlement is the template later copied across Britain and abroad.

A node is not a place. Drawing it on a map would assert something about the world that no stored fact supports.

  28. Evidence
  29. Supports the inscription of the Derwent valley mill complexes, including Cromford, as the place where the modern factory system was established. V55 verification basis: NOT consulted — whc.unesco.org was probed in this session and is blocked by the egress proxy. The inscription reference number and the criteria are deliberately omitted rather than reconstructed.
