Cromford Mill begins spinning
node
Arkwright's water-powered mill in the Derwent valley started work, drawing power from the Bonsall Brook and from a lead-mine drainage sough that ran warm and rarely froze. Around it he built housing, a market and a chapel to hold a workforce beside the machinery, and the resulting settlement is the template later copied across Britain and abroad.
A node is not a place. Drawing it on a map would assert something about the world that no stored fact supports.

- Evidence
- Supports the inscription of the Derwent valley mill complexes, including Cromford, as the place where the modern factory system was established. V55 verification basis: NOT consulted — whc.unesco.org was probed in this session and is blocked by the egress proxy. The inscription reference number and the criteria are deliberately omitted rather than reconstructed.
