The European Commission published its Digital Omnibus on AI, proposing to move the high-risk compliance deadline from 2 August 2026 to 2 December 2027. CEN-CENELEC had announced measures in October 2025 to accelerate the drafting of the harmonised standards on which conformity assessment depends. The proximate reason for a two-year statutory deferral was that the measuring instruments were not ready.
