UNESCO General Conference adopts the World Heritage Convention

At its 17th session in Paris the General Conference adopted the Convention Concerning the Protection of the World Cultural and Natural Heritage. The instrument fused two previously separate movements — the conservation of monuments and the conservation of nature — into one list and one committee, and created the machinery the rest of this journey runs on: the World Heritage List, the List of World Heritage in Danger, the Committee, the Fund and the advisory bodies.

Historical — it happened, and the record is settled.
