An international advisory body for cable resilience is created
The International Telecommunication Union, with the International Cable Protection Committee, announced the establishment of an International Advisory Body for Submarine Cable Resilience, bringing together operators, suppliers, government agencies and international organisations. Its first physical meeting was scheduled alongside a Submarine Cable Resilience Summit in Abuja in February 2025. Its creation is the clearest institutional acknowledgement that cable protection had ceased to be purely an industry matter.
Historical — it happened, and the record is settled.

ITU and ICPC establish the International Advisory Body for Submarine Cable Resilience
Narrow claim, and only this: that the ITU, with the ICPC, announced the establishment of an International Advisory Body for Submarine Cable Resilience on 29 November 2024. V55 verification basis: a retrieved search result carried the announcement with its ITU media-centre URL and its date, attributing the establishment to the ITU in partnership with the ICPC. The membership figure of 42, the co-chairs and the February 2025 Abuja summit came from the same and adjacent results but are NOT covered by this claim and were not separately checked.
