Mortality is reported to plateau after age 105

Barbi, Lagona, Marsili, Vaupel and Wachter report in Science, using individually validated Italian records, that the annual hazard of death flattens at roughly one half after about age 105. If correct, the mortality data do not by themselves imply a fixed ceiling on human lifespan. The result is disputed on the grounds that age misreporting could produce the same appearance.

Uncertain — sources disagree, or the dating is contested. Stated here, not resolved.
