36. On 28 July 2010 the World Heritage Committee removed the Galápagos Islands from the List of World Heritage in Danger, finding significant progress by Ecuador; IUCN and the Galápagos Conservancy publicly argued the removal was premature. ALSO: The Galápagos Islands were inscribed in 1978 and placed on the List of World Heritage in Danger in 2007 because of invasive species, unregulated tourism growth and overfishing.
