The first properties are inscribed on the World Heritage List
node
In 1978 the Committee inscribed the first tranche of properties — a small group including the Galápagos Islands, which carries reference number 1. The list of twelve was drawn from the handful of States that had both ratified early and had nominations ready, which is where the geography of the List begins to diverge from the geography of heritage.
A node is not a place. Drawing it on a map would assert something about the world that no stored fact supports.
