UNESCO publicly disowns the New7Wonders campaign
node
Seventeen days before the Lisbon ceremony, UNESCO issued a press release stating it had no link with the initiative. It drew a direct contrast between the campaign and the scientific and educational work of the World Heritage List, and said the result would reflect only the opinions of those with internet access rather than the world, and could not contribute in any significant or sustainable way to preserving the sites elected.
A node is not a place. Drawing it on a map would assert something about the world that no stored fact supports.
