Drilling on Enewetak reaches volcanic basement beneath the reef

node

Boreholes sunk on Enewetak Atoll during United States site investigation work passed through more than a kilometre of reef-derived carbonate before striking volcanic rock. The stratigraphy is what Darwin's subsidence theory predicts and what the competing shallow-platform explanation does not, and it is generally taken as the confirmation of the 1842 argument, one hundred and ten years after it was published.

A node is not a place. Drawing it on a map would assert something about the world that no stored fact supports.

  22. Evidence
  23. Boreholes on Enewetak in 1952 passed through more than a kilometre of reef carbonate before reaching volcanic basement, the stratigraphy predicted by Darwin's subsidence theory. V55 verification basis: not consulted — the report could not be retrieved and the specific part number, page and exact basement depths are deliberately not given rather than invented.
