A single-gene mutation doubles nematode lifespan

node

Cynthia Kenyon's laboratory reports that C. elegans carrying a mutation in daf-2, the insulin/IGF-1 receptor homologue, live more than twice as long as wild type and remain active, and that the extension requires the transcription factor daf-16. Ageing becomes a genetics problem, and the pathway turns out to be conserved into mammals.

A node is not a place. Drawing it on a map would assert something about the world that no stored fact supports.
