First Assam tea auctioned in London

A consignment reported as forty-six chests of Assam-grown tea was sold at auction in London, the first Indian-grown tea offered on the British market. It proved the crop commercially and triggered the formation of the Assam Company later the same year. From this point the question stops being whether British India can grow tea and becomes how fast plantations, land and labour can be assembled to do it at scale.
