The most recent synoptic survey of CCAMLR Area 48 (Antarctic Peninsula and Scotia Sea) estimated Antarctic krill biomass there at 62.6 million tonnes in 2019; published Southern Ocean totals for the species span roughly 60 to 420 million tonnes. V55 verification basis: retrieved in search summary attributed to CCAMLR material; the survey report was not fetched, and the Area 48 figure and the ocean-wide range are not on the same methodological footing.
