The History of ICOMOS

ICOMOS was founded on 22 June 1965 in Warsaw, one year after the 1964 Venice Charter; it contributed to the drafting of the 1972 Convention, which names it as an Advisory Body; its International Secretariat is at Charenton-le-Pont, France.
