Ahmedabad adopts South Asia's first heat action plan

Following a severe May 2010 heatwave with a measurable excess-mortality signal, the municipal corporation adopted a threshold-based early warning and response plan covering health services, outdoor workers and vulnerable communities. It has since been replicated across many Indian cities and states.
