The Long-Term Monitoring Program begins annual reef surveys
node
The Australian Institute of Marine Science begins surveying a fixed set of Great Barrier Reef sites with a consistent method every year. Almost every subsequent quantitative claim about whether the reef is declining or recovering rests on this series, because it is long enough and consistent enough for a change to be distinguished from a change in how the reef was looked at.
A node is not a place. Drawing it on a map would assert something about the world that no stored fact supports.
