The second global bleaching event

A second globally distributed bleaching event, associated with the 2009-10 El Nino, with severe damage in South East Asia and parts of the Indian Ocean. It is less well known than 1998 and 2016 and is important chiefly for what it established about interval: twelve years, not the several decades reefs need to rebuild an assemblage of slow-growing massive corals.
