BR-163 opens between Cuiaba and Santarem

node

The north-south highway linking Mato Grosso to the Tapajos and the Amazon opens as an unpaved road. Paving proceeds in stages over the following decades, and each stage is followed by an increase in clearance along the corridor - the fishbone pattern of side roads and perpendicular clearing that is the visual signature of road-driven deforestation.

A node is not a place. Drawing it on a map would assert something about the world that no stored fact supports.
