So, How Deep Is the Mariana Trench? asks the question in print
node
Gardner and colleagues publish an assessment in Marine Geodesy showing that post-2000 published maximum depths - and the geodetic positions assigned to them - disagree by more than their own stated uncertainties. The paper reframes the depth of the Challenger Deep from a fact to be looked up into a measurement problem to be solved.
A node is not a place. Drawing it on a map would assert something about the world that no stored fact supports.
