The first dome of Hagia Sophia collapses

node

After a sequence of earthquakes the shallow first dome falls, together with parts of the eastern half-dome and arch. A shallow dome delivers more of its load as horizontal thrust and less as vertical force, so it demands more of its supports precisely where they are weakest; the piers had also deformed under the load. The failure is the empirical result that the design method could not supply in advance.

A node is not a place. Drawing it on a map would assert something about the world that no stored fact supports.
