Kerr finds the rotating solution

Roy Kerr published an exact solution of the vacuum field equations describing the spacetime around a rotating mass, forty-seven years after the static case. Because every collapsing object carries angular momentum, this is the geometry that applies to real black holes; it introduces the ergosphere, frame dragging, an upper bound on spin, and a spin-dependent innermost stable orbit that governs how efficiently accreting matter can radiate.
