Kwame Asare — Jacob Sam — travels from the Gold Coast to London and records for Zonophone's West African series, producing among other sides "Yaa Amponsah", the earliest guitar-band highlife recordings. The instrument is European, the studio is in London, the right-hand technique is reported to derive from the Akan seperewa by way of Kru seamen who learned guitar aboard ship, and the music is Akan.
