The pandemic erases a decade of life expectancy gains

node

Global life expectancy falls to roughly 71.4 years in 2021 and healthy life expectancy to roughly 61.9, on WHO estimates — returning both to values last seen around 2012. United States life expectancy falls to about 76.4 years in 2021. The episode demonstrates what the historical increase rests on: infection control and functioning health systems, neither of which is a property of human biology.

A node is not a place. Drawing it on a map would assert something about the world that no stored fact supports.
