Rapamycin extends mouse lifespan when started in late life

The Interventions Testing Program reports in Nature that rapamycin fed from about twenty months of age extends median and maximal lifespan in genetically heterogeneous mice at all three test sites. Starting the drug in middle-to-old age and still seeing an effect is what makes the result unusual and what made it the field's most cited pharmacological finding.
