The Carhuasanta stream on Nevado Mismi is identified as the Amazon source

A National Geographic expedition places the most distant source of the Amazon at a stream on the northern flank of Nevado Mismi in the Peruvian Andes. The identification becomes the conventional answer for more than three decades and is still the one most often cited, though later surveys dispute it.
