The United States discontinued the intentional degradation of the civil GPS signal, improving typical civil positioning accuracy by roughly an order of magnitude overnight. It is arguably the single most economically consequential decision ever taken about a space system, and it involved no launch and no hardware: an entire class of consumer and commercial applications — in-car navigation, precision agriculture, location-based services, vehicle telematics — became viable the following morning at zero marginal cost to anybody.
A node is not a place. Drawing it on a map would assert something about the world that no stored fact supports.
