World Athletics
node
The international governing body for athletics, and the authority that owns the marathon distance, the road course criteria and the ratification of world records. It was begun at a meeting of 27 representatives from 17 national federations in Stockholm on 18 July 1912, immediately after the Stockholm Olympic Games, and formally founded at a congress in Berlin in 1913 as the International Amateur Athletic Federation. It renamed itself the International Association of Athletics Federations in 2001 and World Athletics in 2019. Its headquarters were in Stockholm to 1946, London to 1993 and Monaco since. It is the body whose 1921 congress fixed 42.195 km as the marathon distance, and the body that decided in 2020 what a legal racing shoe is.
A node is not a place. Drawing it on a map would assert something about the world that no stored fact supports.
