Makuleke community forcibly removed from Pafuri into Kruger National Park
About 1,500 Makuleke people were removed by the apartheid government from the land between the Luvuvhu and Limpopo rivers and relocated to Ntlaveni near Punda Maria. The vacated land was incorporated into Kruger National Park, making the park's northern section a direct product of forced removal under apartheid land policy.

The Makuleke were removed from the Pafuri area in 1969 and their land incorporated into Kruger National Park; a 1998 settlement restored roughly 25,000 hectares in title on condition of continued conservation use, with commercial rights to the community.
