Carpathia lands the survivors at New York

She stopped first at White Star's Pier 59 to put off Titanic's thirteen recovered lifeboats, then berthed at Cunard's Pier 54. Tens of thousands waited on the waterfront in the rain. Rostron had refused to release survivor accounts by wireless during the passage, so the first full account of the disaster reached the world that night.

Historical — it happened, and the record is settled.
