Boat 2 came alongside first; the last survivors were taken aboard by around 08:30, roughly 705 in all. The Californian, having finally switched on her wireless, reached the scene later that morning and found only wreckage.

Carpathia was about 58 nautical miles from the transmitted distress position, worked up to roughly 17 knots through ice, reached the first lifeboat about 04:00 on 15 April and took aboard approximately 705 survivors, landing them at New York on 18 April.
