International Ice Patrol established

American patrols of the Grand Banks lanes begun in 1913 were placed on a permanent international footing by the 1914 convention, funded by the participating maritime nations and operated by the United States Coast Guard. It has surveyed and broadcast the iceberg limit every season since, apart from wartime interruption.

Historical — it happened, and the record is settled.
