TT Circuit Assen is the oldest circuit on the MotoGP calendar in continuous use — a 4.542-kilometre circuit in Drenthe, Netherlands, which has hosted the Dutch TT (Tourist Trophy) every year since 1925, making it the longest-running motorcycle race in the world's highest level of the sport, and the only race to consistently sell out its grandstands (105,000 spectators on race day) regardless of Dutch rider performance. The crystal designation reflects Assen's weather characteristics: the northern Netherlands' spring and early summer climate produces highly variable race day weather — the 'Assen rain' phenomenon, where showers arrive and depart within minutes, creating split-weather races with tyres suited to conditions that change before the pit stop can be completed — generating the championship's most tactically complex racing conditions outside Singapore.
