Macerata Opera
Sferisterio, Macerata, Italy
Rare · held by 271 collectors

The Sferisterio in Macerata was built in 1829 as a ball court — its curved neoclassical wall, 88 metres long, now forms the stage backdrop for the Macerata Opera Festival. Three thousand seats under open Italian sky, Verdi and Puccini echoing off marble. One of the most acoustically natural outdoor opera venues in Italy, discovered by those who get off the tourist circuit.
