The Salzburg Festival was founded in 1920 in Mozart's birthplace. Each summer it presents over two hundred performances of opera, drama, and concerts across six weeks, drawing the world's finest conductors, directors, and singers. The Felsenreitschule — a stage carved into a cliff — is its most dramatic venue. Tickets are allocated in February for the following summer.
