Legendary
The International Ballet Competition in Varna, Bulgaria is the oldest ballet competition in the world, founded in 1964. It operates on a two-year cycle, attracting senior professionals as well as students. Past winners include Mikhail Baryshnikov and Sylvie Guillem. Held in Varna's open-air theatre, the sea air and summer light give it an atmosphere no studio competition can replicate.
