The international federation is founded
node
Twenty-seven representatives of 17 national federations meet in Stockholm on 18 July 1912, immediately after the Olympic Games there, and agree to convene a congress in Berlin the following year. The 1913 Berlin congress formally founds the International Amateur Athletic Federation under Sigfrid Edstrom. Until this body exists there is no institution with standing to declare what a marathon is, which is why the 1908 distance is not a standard for thirteen years.
A node is not a place. Drawing it on a map would assert something about the world that no stored fact supports.

- Evidence
- The marathon distance is 42.195 km / 26 miles 385 yards, taken from the 1908 London Olympic course and set as the standard by the IAAF in 1921. V55 verification basis: worldathletics.org was refused by this session's network egress proxy, so the page was read only through attributed search summaries; the 1921 congress minute was not seen.
