Angkor inscribed on the World Heritage List and the danger list on the same day
node
At the Committee session in Santa Fe, New Mexico, Angkor was placed on both lists at once — a recognition that the site's Outstanding Universal Value was beyond argument and that landmines, looting and illicit excavation put it in immediate peril. Inscription was made conditional on Cambodia establishing a protection and management regime.
A node is not a place. Drawing it on a map would assert something about the world that no stored fact supports.
