ITER presents an updated project baseline to the ITER Council
node
The ITER Organization submitted a proposed update to the project baseline at the 34th Meeting of the ITER Council on 19 and 20 June 2024. The update states a new sequence of programme targets — start of research operations in 2034, full magnetic energy and plasma current in 2036, and start of deuterium-tritium operation in 2039 — representing delays of three and four years against the 2016 reference baseline. It also changes the first wall material from beryllium to tungsten and installs the divertor and blanket shield blocks earlier, so the machine is more complete when operations begin. These are stated targets and design decisions.
A node is not a place. Drawing it on a map would assert something about the world that no stored fact supports.
