The Sanlam Cape Town Marathon is confirmed as the eighth Abbott World Marathon Major, with its first race in that status scheduled for 23 May 2027. It would be the first Major in Africa. The confirmation is reported in June 2026; the debut is a scheduled plan, not an event that has happened.
