The Ghan runs through to Darwin for the first time

node

The extension north from Alice Springs having opened in January 2004, the first through service leaves Adelaide on 1 February and arrives at Darwin on 3 February, completing a south-to-north crossing of the continent first proposed in the nineteenth century. It is the only route in this Journey whose principal alignment is younger than the passengers riding it.

A node is not a place. Drawing it on a map would assert something about the world that no stored fact supports.
