The European Union sustainable aviation fuel blending obligation begins
node
The ReFuelEU Aviation regulation's first blending obligation applies from the start of 2025, requiring fuel suppliers at Union airports to supply a minimum share — two per cent at the outset — of sustainable aviation fuel, rising in steps toward mid-century with a separate sub-obligation for synthetic fuels so that the requirement cannot be met entirely from waste oils and fats. It is the first binding fuel mandate of its kind for aviation anywhere. Whether a mandate can buy down cost the way deployment subsidies did for solar is the open question it poses, and the answer depends on whether the production routes have a learning curve at all.
A node is not a place. Drawing it on a map would assert something about the world that no stored fact supports.
