Sirkeci Terminal opens as the European terminus at Constantinople

The station built between 1888 and 1890 by August Jasmund for the Oriental Railway opens, initially named Müşir Ahmet Paşa Station. It becomes the arrival point of the through Orient Express and the image most people carry of the service's eastern end — although the first train of 1883 never saw it, and the first all-rail run of 1889 preceded it by more than a year.
