Harland and Wolff shipyard, Queen's Island, Belfast
node · earth
The Belfast yard that built Titanic, founded on Queen's Island by Edward Harland and Gustav Wolff in 1861 and White Star's builder under a long-standing cost-plus arrangement. Titanic was laid down on slipway No. 3 beneath the purpose-built Arrol Gantry, alongside Olympic on No. 2, and fitted out in the Thompson Graving Dock. The slipways, the Thompson dock and the drawing offices survive in what is now Belfast's Titanic Quarter.
