Kitzbühel is a Tyrolean ski town whose lifts rise directly from the historic centre, and it is best known for hosting the Hahnenkamm World Cup downhill each January. Its season is one of the longer ones in the Alps, running from autumn to spring, with the quietest slopes early and late and the busiest during the holidays and race week. The season typically runs November to April, with the Hahnenkamm races in January; opening dates, snow and lift status are confirmed only with the resort.
