The third Olympic-class ship, yard number 433, launched in February 1914 with the post-Titanic safety revisions built in — a double skin, bulkheads carried far higher, and gantry davits able to launch boats from either side. She never carried a fare-paying passenger. Requisitioned as a hospital ship, she struck a mine laid by U-73 in the Kea Channel in the Aegean on 21 November 1916 and sank in under an hour; 30 of more than a thousand aboard died. Jacques Cousteau located the wreck in 1975; she lies on her side at about 120 m.
