Silk Road Vector
Tashkent–Almaty–Urumqi Corridor, Central Asia
Legendary · held by 286 collectors
The Silk Road Vector — the Tashkent–Almaty–Urumqi corridor and its radiating connections — is the overland backbone of China's Belt and Road Initiative in Central Asia, carrying an estimated USD 450 billion in annual trade. The China-Europe Railway Express runs 80+ weekly trains from Chinese industrial centres through Kazakhstan and Russia to European terminals; transit time is 12–18 days versus 35–40 days by sea. Kazakhstan's Khorgos Gateway on the China–Kazakhstan border is the world's largest dry port, processing 70,000 containers per year in a facility built to reduce trans-Eurasian rail transit from 30 minutes to 6 hours at the border. Uzbekistan's Tashkent is the political centre of the corridor; Almaty functions as the financial hub. The corridor's strategic importance has increased post-2022 as Russia–Europe rail volumes rerouted through the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (TITR), which bypasses Russian territory entirely. Central Asia is no longer a transit space — it is a negotiation space.
