Trans-Siberian Railway, Russia
Legendary · held by 223 collectors
The Trans-Siberian Railway is the longest railway in the world: 9,288 kilometres from Moscow Yaroslavsky station to Vladivostok, crossing eight time zones, 16 major rivers, and the Ural and Stanovoi mountain ranges. Journey time is 6 days 2 hours non-stop. Beyond the passenger experience, the Trans-Siberian functions as the primary land bridge for container traffic between East Asia and Europe — a sea-to-rail-to-sea routing that bypasses the Suez Canal entirely. In 2021, before the Ukraine sanctions regime, container dwell time on the Trans-Siberian route was 15–18 days Moscow to Beijing versus 35–40 days by sea via Suez. The sanctions imposed after February 2022 have redirected much of this capacity toward China-Russia bilateral trade, with Manzhouli and Suifenhe border crossings operating at record throughput. The corridor's geopolitical valence has inverted: once a global bridge, now a Russia-China axis rail.
