The M87* ring is imaged in polarised light

The collaboration published polarimetric images of the M87* ring, mapping the orientation of magnetic fields in the emitting plasma just outside the shadow. The pattern indicates fields strong and ordered enough to resist being dragged inward by the accreting gas, which is the configuration jet-launching models require. It is the closest thing yet to a direct look at the magnetic structure that the Blandford-Znajek mechanism needs in order to work.
A node is not a place. Drawing it on a map would assert something about the world that no stored fact supports.
