Leyland Line cargo steamer under Captain Stanley Lord, stopped for the night in the same ice field on 14–15 April 1912. Her only wireless operator had closed the set and gone to bed shortly before Titanic's distress call. Her officers watched a nearby vessel fire white rockets, reported it to the master, and took no effective action. Both 1912 inquiries found she could have reached Titanic; a 1992 British reappraisal placed her further off than Mersey believed, while still holding the failure to respond inexcusable.
