Russian Railways abandons Moscow time across the network

From 1 August 2018 every station clock, information board, announcement and ticket on the Russian long-distance network shows local time, ending a convention more than a century old under which a traveller at Vladivostok read a departure seven hours out of step with the daylight. The change altered no track and no train, and it is the single most revealing thing in this Journey about what a timetable was actually for.

Historical — it happened, and the record is settled.
