Paris Opera
Palais Garnier, Paris
Legendary · held by 398 collectors
Palais Garnier was completed in 1875 under Charles Garnier for Napoleon III — the most extravagant opera house of the nineteenth century. Its grand staircase, Chagall ceiling above the auditorium, and underground lake inspired The Phantom of the Opera. The Paris Opera Ballet performs here; the opera company moved primarily to Bastille in 1989. The Garnier remains the prestige address.
